Specifics
Protected area is divided into two zones. The first zone includes the source of Bosna river and its surrounding area, while the second zone is made up of the source’s catchment area at the foot of Mt. Igman. The main values of the natural monument are the source of Bosna river; the area between the source and Plandišta; Tree-lined “Velika Aleja” walkway, parking lot around Ilidža spa; parking lot in Stojčevac, Stojčevac source; Sources Borin I and II, Ilidža’s underground thermal and thermo-mineral waters; cold underground waters of the field of Sarajevo; archeological site and a necropolis in the village of Vrutci; Roman bridge at Plandište; Austro-Hungarian Villas in “Velika Aleja”; various animal and plant world.
Current State
Easy access and sign boards. Entrance admission fee.
Allowed
Demarcation of the first protected zone’s boundaries with a sign board about the protection regime; rehabilitation of the spring area to regenerate destroyed or degraded plant and animal communities and conserve the natural habitat in its authentic state; preparation and marking of hiking trails and a viewpoint and a rest stop areas; setting up an adequate waste management system for solid and sewerage waste; setting up sign boards with information about the values of the protected areas.
Prohibited
Extraction of groundwater resources that would result in the reduction of the aquifer level that would harm the spring and vegetation’s ecosystem; construction of infrastructure for extraction of surface water and the source; construction, land tiling; planting or introduction of animal species; introduction of genetically modified species; boating or swimming in water courses; ban on hunting, fishing; disposal of waste, sand and gravel in the watercourses and on soil, ban on traffic except with the approval of the protected area’s Manager; any other type of the use of space by visitors except for recreational uses; mass gatherings; concerts and festivities; use of open flame; cutting of vegetation except as ecological maintenance; plucking of plants, digging out roots and bulbs; harvesting medicinal plants and forest nuts; removal of a nest and harassing birds; letting dogs off the leash; washing of vehicles in water courses or driving cars along the two tree-lined walkways except for horse-drawn carriages and motor vehicles with government approval.
